Battery Relocation.
Ok, so who's done one that can pass Trails tech? that's pretty much all I'm worried about. If its going to be too expensive I'll probably just goto walmart and get a tractor battery and move it down onto the K-member..
So far I have a 300A switch and 20 ft of 4ga wire (that i paid 2.50/ft for at columbus car audio )

Re: Battery Relocation.
To do it the proper way its supposed to kill your alternator also
so when you flip off the battery the car wont stay running
so run the power wire of the alt back to the kill switch also
but i was thinking the other day if you just used the kill switch to kill the battery ground instead
of positive wouldnt that make the car shut off
but idk

Re: Battery Relocation.
I used a kit from T1 out of Texas (they no longer sell the one I have), but its essentially a Ford starter solenoid. I have the jegs battery relocation kit (its NHRA approved), I think you can get the box and wiring for $100 bucks or so, I think you can get a complete kit with toggle switch for $129ish. Like Pound said it has to kill the battery and the alternator. I have a toggle on the back switch on the back of my car and have passed tech every time. They did tell me at Import Faceoff that it needs to have a sticker next time that says "down is off"

Re: Battery Relocation.
From what I've read which makes perfect sense now that i think about it is If you put the disconnect on the negative side, It'll just kill battery power, the alternator will still keep the car running.

Re: Battery Relocation.
Exactly which is why you have to also make the kill switch kill the alternator. I think the jegs kit even comes with directions lol

Re: Battery Relocation.
If you kill the ground shouldnt everything shut off because nothing will have a ground source?
Re: Battery Relocation.
It may, I know the first time we wired mine up and hit the switch the car kept running. Wired it to kill the alt and boom it was fixed
